Anjeer price in India (2026): what 1 kg should cost and why prices vary

In 2026, retail anjeer in India typically costs about ₹800 to ₹2,100 per kg, depending mostly on size grade, softness and whether the figs are treated. Small, mixed or hard figs sit at the bottom of that range; large, soft, untreated and freshly packed figs sit at the top. Here is what drives the price and how to compare offers fairly.

What makes one kilo cost twice as much as another

Size grade

This is the biggest factor. Larger figs are softer and meatier and there are fewer of them per kilo. A kilo of Jumbo figs (33–38 mm) holds roughly 40–50 figs; a kilo of small figs can hold 70 or more. Many cheap packs are mixed sizes.

Softness and moisture

Fresh-season, properly stored figs are soft and pliable. Old or over-dried stock is hard and cheaper. Softness cannot be judged from a photo, which is why the pack date matters.

Treated or untreated

Sulphured figs keep a bright, even colour and can look "better" in a photo. Untreated figs are darker and uneven, and some buyers pay more for them. Our buying guide shows how to tell them apart.

Why prices are higher this Diwali

An October 2026 trade report found dried figs 5–15% more expensive than last Diwali, with supply from Iran and Afghanistan constrained, higher freight costs and a weaker rupee raising import prices (FreshPlaza). That is despite GST on dried figs falling from 12% to 5% in September 2025 (ClearTax). Expect prices to ease slightly after the festive season, depending on the new crop.

Is wholesale cheaper?

Wholesale listings on B2B marketplaces quote around ₹900–₹1,200 per kg for bulk lots, often sold in 10 kg cartons and not always size-graded (IndiaMART). For a household, the saving disappears once you account for quality checks, storage and figs drying out before you finish them.
