Anjeer nutrition facts: calories, fibre and minerals per 100 g and per fig
The full nutrition of dried figs per 100 g, per fig and per serving, with what each number means for you.

Dried figs are high in fibre, unusually rich in calcium and potassium for a fruit, and naturally sweet, with no added sugar. Here are the numbers, per 100 g, per Jumbo fig and per typical serving of three, based on USDA FoodData Central.
Anjeer nutrition table

Per-fig values are calculated from the USDA figures and our Jumbo grade's average weight. A smaller Medium fig weighs less, so scale down.
What stands out
Fibre. Nearly 10 g per 100 g makes figs one of the higher-fibre dry fruits; three figs give about 6 g. That is why they help digestion: see anjeer for constipation.
Calcium. 162 mg per 100 g is high for a fruit, about two and a half times what dates have (figs vs dates). Dairy remains the main calcium source, but figs are a useful extra.
Potassium. 680 mg per 100 g, similar to dates and higher than a banana by weight. People with kidney disease who have been told to limit potassium should check with their doctor.
Sugar. Almost half the weight of a dried fig is natural sugar. It comes with fibre, which slows it down, but it still counts. See anjeer and diabetes and anjeer for weight loss.
Anjeer and iron: an honest look
Anjeer is often recommended for low haemoglobin. It does contain iron, about 2 mg per 100 g, but the amounts are modest. Women aged 19–50 need about 18 mg a day and men about 8 mg (NIH Office of Dietary Supplements); three figs give about 1.2 mg. Iron from plant foods is also absorbed less well than iron from meat, fish and eggs. Eating figs with vitamin C foods such as lemon, orange, guava or tomato improves absorption. If you have been diagnosed with anaemia, follow your doctor's treatment; figs are a helpful food, not a fix.
Does soaking change the nutrition?
No. Soaking adds water and makes figs softer and easier to digest, but the fibre, minerals and sugar stay the same. If you drink the soaking water too, you keep anything that dissolved into it. See soaked anjeer benefits.
Reading an anjeer label
- Ingredients should say only "dried figs". Sugar, glucose syrup or preservatives mean a processed product.
- Nutrition per 100 g should look close to the table above; much higher sugar suggests added sweetener.
- Look for the pack date, origin and FSSAI licence number. More in how to buy good anjeer.
Our Jumbo anjeer 500 g contains one ingredient, dried figs, graded by size and never sulphured.
